Meeting the wild

On Parnitha mountain, only 25km from downtown Athens, lives the largest Red Deer (Cervus Elaphus) population in Greece (about 400 deers).
I met a family of three during a walk this week and it was one really amazing and magic moment.

(The photo was taken just a few meters behind the ruined hotel of the previous photo)

Deer are amazing animals. Hard to believe that they can be found at such proximity to a city like Athens, but it's true!

Really great picture!
do they ever wonder into the city by accident?

Thanks for your comments.

Olive, they never leave the forest. Although they do wander near the edge of the nearby villages.
