Zappeion gardens

The Zappeion garden grounds and the fountain as seen from the building entrance, between the columns. (See previous post's photo)
This is the gathering place of several Athenians who want to discuss politics with each other, the "Small Parliament" as they themselves call it. Most of the trees you see here are over a hundrend years old and were planted during the construction of the site in 1896. Posted by Picasa

Over coffee this morning I made a note to go the Greek Days on Broadway this Sunday. Lots of Greeks in Vancouver. In my youth I lived in Athens and the Greek Isles and have very fond memories of the people and the places. Welcome to DP family and I look forward to your photos and comments.
